Como Colorado was founded in 1859 during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush.  At an elevation is 9,813 feet, it is the Gateway to Boreas Pass...a scenic and historic drive to Breckenridge, Colorado. With a population of a hundred or so people within the town limits and about 1,000 more in outlying areas, it is unincorporated and very historic. Included in the town is the Como Depot (a great bed & breakfast and restaurant), the Como Mercantile (a small store containing the local post office), and the Mountain Man Gallery (a great arts & crafts store).  Como is known for it's 4th of July events and it's friendly small-town atmosphere!

During the latter half of the 1800's, Como became one of the major stopover points for the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad.  The Como Roundhouse is still standing today and receives many visitors.
